Special Youth Blood Drive planned

Young people frorn Wayne, Seneca, Ontario and Yates Counties are coming together to sponsor a special Youth Blood Drive on Saturday, August 11 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. at the Alex Eligh Community Center, East Avenue, Newark.

Students who have participated in the Red Cross Youth Leadership Conference, both as delegates and staff, are asking all young people between the ages of 17 and 25 to give one hour of their day on August 11 to Give the Gift of Life.

Volunteers are providing special food and entertainment.

The Kiwanis Club of Newark is co-sponsoring this blood drive as part of their youth initiative program. Nadine Brill, Director of the Wayne County Chapter American Red Cross states that the ongoing need for blood makes it impossible to let a day go by without asking local blood donors to respond to the need. Cancer patients, liver transplant recipients and Burn victims as well as premature babies and people in automobile accidents depend on the community blood supply.

Young people will be receiving cards and a telephone call asking them to donate on Saturday, August 11. Please mark your calendars. Sign up now!

To schedule an appointment to donate, call 331.3783.
