History of Williamson Flying Club

The Williamson Flying Club will be the subject and location of the June 6 meeting of the Pultneyville Historical Society. All will want to see and hear how this energetic club, founded in 1956 by five flying enthusiasts from the Williamson area, has created a truly remarkable community resource at the Williamson-Sodus Airport.

Wes Somerville, a long-time member and club historian will share the growth from a simple grass sod airstrip of a local farm with one cloth-covered airplane, to the airport of today with 150 club members.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at the Williamson-Sodus Airport entering from the south side of Route 104 between Redman and Centenary Roads.

BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS for the program and perhaps a new friend or neighbor interested in local history. Refreshments will be served.
