Fairville Community Festival coming
The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a breakfast at the fire hall sponsored by the Explorer Post. This will run 8-10 a.m. There will be arts and crafts displays, a children's activities tent and a display in the hall of the church's 135-plus-year history. There will be a food concession and the fire hall restrooms will be available. The music will be under a pavilion and, in case of foul weather, vendors will be allowed space inside the fire hall. Musical entertainment begins at 9 a.m. with the Golden Eagle String Band from the Rochester area, featuring John Wallace a former Newark High School teacher. They will play ballads from the Erie Canal and Irish music. At 10 a.m. Barb Mater of Newark will sing folk music. The Fairville Players will present a skit at 11 a.m., followed by Skidder and Sissy, from the Buffalo area, performing their clown show. For Goodness Sake, from Lyons, will perform rock and roll music beginning at noon. The duet of Hymn and Her, from Fairville, will perform contemporary Christian music, old standards and love songs beginning at 2 p.m., followed by God's Country, from Buffalo, performing Christian country music at 3 p.m. Arts and crafts booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Continuous entertainment will be provided all day long. For more information, call festival chairman Bob Baldwin at 331.0135 or Joyce DeRue, 331.3336. This project is made possible, in part, with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program, which is administered by Wayne County Council for the Arts.
