What do you folks do when you get rust on your hollyhocks?

The Sons of the American Legion Squad #1430 is holding a Two-Man Scramble Golf Tournament at the Taranwould Golf Course on June 16 at noon. This is followed by a buffet dinner. $50 per person and must be paid by June 11. For more information please call 926.5571 or 926.5035.

The next blood drive in Marion is June 19 from 2-7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1430. Mark your calendars!

By the way ... worn-out American flags may be left at any American Legion Post.

JUNE 16, 1917: The L.A. Shoales store is much improved by the addition of a balcony, which extends across the upper story and makes a porch for the rooms over the store occupied by Mrs. Henrietta Winslow and her sister, Miss Dell Norman.

Eighth Grade Recognition Night has been scheduled for June 12.

I visited by phone, with Elma Huber in Aiken, South Carolina, who sends her regards to friends in Marion.

Congratulations to Matt and Erica VanCamp who were united in marriage at the Second Reformed Church, on May 25.

Monday, June 11 is the chicken BBQ, sponsored by the Youth at the Second Reformed Church. Tickets are $6.

Dr. Fred Coisman was welcomed to the pulpit, at the Second Reformed Church, in the absence of Pastor White and Pastor Stock. Doug Pierce brought the evening message, on June 3.

Maude Finch has returned from a two-week vacation in Florida. There she spent time with her brother Bill and Nancy Bouwers of Orange City. Maude was accompanied by her brother Jake & Sue Bouwens of Palmyra.
