Happenings Bill Bliek, a May 13 graduate of St. Bonaventure University, won two awards at commencement. They are the Wall Street Journal Award, and the Dr. Pierre Bretey Award. Bliek earned a Bachelor of Business degree in finance. He graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude. Brian and Jill Adriaansen, and son Craig returned from a vacation journey to Metropolis, IL where they attended the Superman Festival. On the way home they stopped at the famous Cincinnati Zoo and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Marion Legion Ball Games are underway. Be watching for the announcement of the second, FOR LUNCH OR BRUNCH cookbook. This helps to defray the expense of game umpires. (Some of the first cookbooks are available.) Sons of the American Legion Squad 1430 Golf Tournament Two-Man Scramble- will be held at Taranwould Golf Course on June 16 at noon. Followed by buffet dinner at $50 per person. Vacation Bible School is planned at the Second Reformed Church, June 25-29. The Palmyra Reformed Church is holding a Ham Dinner on June 15 from 4:30-7 at the church at 232 Canandaigua St., Palmyra. Take-outs available. Proceeds will help fund the Youth Group. The Rev. Kevin Bushart and family have moved to Odessa, Texas, where he will be the pastor at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. His new address is 4328 Esmond Avenue, Odessa, TX 79762. His phone number is 915.362.7824. Marion Happy Travelers had a most enjoyable trip to Skaneateles on Wednesday. Early morning found us at 'The Creamery,' with a history of Skaneateles and some of its various industries explained by the historian. A walk through this historical building was most interesting. The narrated ride on the 'Judge Ben Wiles' boat took place on a clear day and a calm lake. Everyone enjoyed lunch at the Sherwood Inn followed by some time for shopping in the village. We traveled on to Weedsport for a dessert buffet at the Erie restaurant. The next day trip is August 29 when we travel to the Forestburgh Playhouse to see a production of On Golden Pond. Reservations are still being accepted. The visit to Crescent Beach Hotel in September featuring Fall music and dinner, four days at the 'Trapp Family Lodge' in Vermont in October, and the trip to Wheeling, WV for Christmas lights and a live performance by Debbie Reynolds are all upcoming and all still have room.
