rosesThe summer weather is finally here... Good swimming weather, Sodus Point will have Life Guards on Duty at the park beginning Tuesday, June 26 from l0 in the morning until 8 p.m. Mark your calendars.

Have you seen any of the Horses on Parade yet? There was one on display in Newark recently at Wegmans. You can go on a tour, or find them on your own. You can see them through, Saturday, September 15, when they'll be auctioned off.

There is a bird club in Wayne County called the Greater Wayne Bird Club. Anyone who is interested in getting a bird or who is already a bird owner can get in touch with Janet for further information at avitiel@computer-connection.net Janet has a breeding pair of Cockatiels. The breed is called Cinnamon. She tells me the group is always looking for new members and they have a lot of fun.

The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring an After Work Networking Get-together along with the Great Sodus Bay Association on Wednesday, June 20 at Papa Joe's. Each Chamber member is encouraged to attend. For more information, call 315.483.7256. The next Chamber meeting will be Thursday, July 12 at Nick's.

This coming week will be the kids' last week of school. Enjoy your vacation, students and the teachers. On Monday, June l8 there will be the Intermediate School Talent Show. At 7 that evening the 6th grade will have their graduation. Congrats to all.

bay I found this on the Emazing Recipe of the Day site:

Strawberry Smoothie

(you can substitute any fruit with this)

Serves 2-3
1 l/2 C strawberries, capped and halved
1 C yogurt plain
l/8 tsp vanilla
1 C ice, cracked

Place the fruit, yogurt and vanilla in the food processor or blender and run until smooth. Add the ice and run the blender until smooth. Serve cold...A perfect drink for hot summer days ahead.

Soon the vacationing kids will be able to sign up for the Summers Library Programs at the Libraries. This year's theme is Pirates, so get out your eye patch and practice your Pirate accent. The Williamson Public Library registration for this fun summertime adventure is Monday, June 25 and continues throughout the summer. Children who sign up to be on this wonderful Pirate Adventure will receive kits with a compass to help them navigate through the Children's area of the Library, a unique bookbag, and a treasure chest to decorate and keep on display. The Chest will hold plenty of loot earned by reading. A large wall map will mark the route as the Library Ship sets sail to travel around the world. The Library Ship needs 4,500 hours of reading time to complete this journey. Sounds like a big job, but we know with your help, as well as your love of reading, the Library can do it! Don't forget shoreline to mark the registration date. All the fun begins in July, so don't get left at the shore. I will keep you posted from my crow's nest as to what fun things are on the horizon.

June 23 and 24 are New York Free Fishing Days - no license is required, but you must follow NYS fishing requirements. What a great weekend to head to Sodus.

Thanks to all who have sent me information for the column. It is greatly appreciated. If you would like to send along information, write to me at
