Lyons Mayor John Salone Tree dedicated at Nursing Home

A Living Prayer Tree dedication ceremony was held Thursday at Wayne County Nursing Home.

Pictured with the tree is Lyons Mayor John Salone.

The event was created and led by Howard Washburn, formerly of Newark, now a resident of the County Home. After hearing about Brian Bronk of California, a 27-year-old needing a heart transplant, Washburn went to work. He called upon his Men's Christian Group to pray for Bronk. When the prayer was answered, Washburn decided to buy and plant a tree in honor of Bronk, who is the nephew of Sue Lisco, WCNH activity aide. The area around the tree is a memory garden, a place to think, meditate and pray.

Wetherell, who is Williamson Town Supervisor, chairs the Social Services Committee; and Haroff is the administrator of the Nursing Home.
