Controlled burn in Newark

Last week, Wayne County legislators officially accepted James R. Colacino's $4500 bid for the East Ave. property he bought at tax auction.

The land is across the street from Newark Electric, and Colacino had been waiting for the county okay so he could level the rundown building on the lot.

Newark firefighters accomplished that yesterday morning with a controlled burn.
