Summer reading at Williamson Library
Yo, ho, ho, it's summer vacation time and the Williamson Public Library invites all young pirates to join the New York State Summer Reading Program. Registration for the 2001: A Reading Odyssey program began Monday, June 23 and continues throughout the summer. Children who visit the library to sign-up will receive a special kit for a fantastic voyage of reading adventure. Kits will include a compass to help them navigate their way through the Children's Area of the library, a unique book bag, and a treasure chest to decorate and keep on display that will hold plenty of loot earned by reading. Club members will also come about and try to sail the seven seas using time-spent reading. A large wall map will mark the route as the library ship sets sail to travel around the world. We will need over 4,500 hours of reading time to complete the nautical miles for this journey. All kids ages 1-14 can join. Rest your sea legs at one or all of many special free programs scheduled this summer. On July 11 & 25, at 10:30 a.m. it's Preschool Story Time, including a puppet show given by Readers, Inc.
