Virginia VanderBrook is home recovering from cataract surgery.

Gordon and Nancy VanHall have returned from a recent trip to Wisconsin where they attended the Watt Pottery Convention. They also traveled on to South Dakota, where they toured and visited the Presidents at Mount Rushmore. (Doggie, Molly, enjoyed the trip, too).

Bob and Laurie Estochen and family will be in Marion for a term of eight weeks from their adopted home in France.

JUNE 30, 1917: The Marion High Senior Class of six was graduated at the end of commencement week. The community can now enjoy a free picture show every Saturday night on the screen set up on the front of the First National Bank.

Eileen Ballesty's sister Kay is visiting her for five weeks from her home in Dublin, Ireland, one of the places they visited Las Vegas and they have lots of other plans for the time she spends in the States.

The Marion Soccer team of the Wayne Finger Lakes Youth Soccer League hosted a game on Monday with Red Creek, at the High School field. They ended with a score of 10-1 with all players working exceptionally well together. Justin Devlin, the man in the hole, rejected many hits from the opposing team.

On June 21, Roger and Gen Adriaansen attended the graduation of their granddaughter Laura from the School of the Arts in Rochester. Laura graduated as class Valedictorian. She will attend Syracuse University this fall. She is the daughter of Tom and Theresa Adriaansen of Rochester.

Seven youths and two adult sponsors from the United Church, will be going to Lewistown, PA, July 15-21 under the auspices of Group Workcamps. Lewistown is deep in the Appalachian Mountains of central Pennsylvania, a region still heavily populated by Amish and Mennonite people. Half the residents in this community live in the low to moderate income range, more than 1800 homes are in need of substantial rehabilitation. A wide variety of home repairs and renovation projects need to be performed. Pray for these young people and sponsors as they prepare for this life-changing experience.
