caesarMissing Sodus

Well, I guess March came in like a Lion this year! Enough is enough!

The other morning, I was digging out and could barely see Caesar, the snow was so deep. Sarah prefers I shovel for her. (She's so small and petite...) Caesar is a terrier, which explains it all. (I was looking at pictures of Sarah the other day... I can say is, it must have been the Puppy Chow. Thank goodness Caesar didn't keep growing, too!)

Eileen Hooper, who has been working at Disney World since they moved to Florida, now works at the Magic Kingdom. She started just this week. She works on the late parade. Eileen does hair. (Gosh, Disney has a lot of hair to do! I'm sure she is kept busy with Cinderella, Ariel and even Pooh needs a good combing out once in a while.)

Speaking of Florida, Al Dobbin's daughter, Sue Ellen Johnson, and her family visited her husband's aunt. They took Sue's father-in-law with them. The Johnson family enjoyed the 80 degree weather and spent time at the beach. Due to tcinderella's castlehe fires and smoke, they decided against going to the Disney's Animal Kingdom for this trip. Because of the fires, the highway to Disney was closed. (I guess we went at a perfect time... There was another fire while we were there, but Disney carried on as usual.)

If you see a Sodus guy out snowblowing on Sergeant Street, offer him a hot cup of coffee or cocoa... you will find Al Dobbin under that hood covered with snow. What a guy. I really must find out what kind of vitamins he takes - he has a lot more energy then I do. (One driveway is too much for me. What a good neighbor he is!) Al has been attending the Lenten Breakfasts on Wednesday mornings. One morning, the Lessords cooked breakfast. (Ok, what's the secret ingredient in those pancakes?)

Are you attending the March craft sessions at the Kraft Shack? They're being held each Saturday throughout National Craft Month. This Saturday will be Napkin Decor. If you'd like the Kraft Shack to make a project for you because you can't make it to a class, they can do it for you for an extra $5 fee. Also the Kraft Shack is thinking about having a Summer weekly Kids' Craft Day. If you would be interested, please let them know. Sounds like a fun way to spend a snowman summer day of vacation with the kids. (Don't forget to watch Sandy on TV Channel 8.)

The Church of the Epiphany and St. Rose of Lima will hold several fundraisers to support the teens who will attend the National Catholic Youth Conference. Tomorrow (Saturday), there will be a spaghetti supper in t he Parish Center, 6-8 p.m. Mark your calendars now for an April 1 Pancake breakfast, 8 a.m. to noon. And order your Easter plants from the kids, too. They're $7.50 each.

I received in my e-mail the announcement that Sodus Supervisor Donna Chittenden has been named the Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.

Donna has been Supervisor for the Town of Sodus since 1990. She is also a member of numerous community organizations. She is currently President of the Sodus Rotary Club, Vice-president of the Sodus Youth Venture, and a Director of the Sodus Bay Historical Society.

Donna is also a member of the Sodus Central School-to-Work Advisory Council; serves on the Wilkes-Desmond Scholarship Committee; and, for the past two years, has participated in a Junior Achievement program teaching economic concepts to second graders. She has also worked diligently with other community leaders to save the services at Myers Hospital.

Donna also volunteers her time as Director of the Sodus Nutrition site and the Home Meal Service. She also serves as a board member of the Wayne County Water Quality Committee.
