Child care classes for babysitters

Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Program is providing Child Care Classes for youth ages 12 years and older in order to prepare them for future babysitting jobs in their communities.

The seven-hour course will be offered on Friday, March 16 at the Wolcott Presbyterian Church. The class will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch and the course will cost $7 for the materials.

All youth must pre-register by calling Cornell Cooperative Extension at 331.8415 before attending the class. Please give name, age and phone number.

More information is available at the guidance office of the North Rose - Wolcott Middle School. You may also register there.

Topics covered include the care of infants, the ages and stages of children from 2 to 10 years of age, discipline techniques, and guidelines for safety and first aid for those emergency situations. Preparing our youth to be good babysitters not only helps them find a job for today, but gives them experiences that will benefit the children of tomorrow.
