Literacy volunteer workshops

Have you ever wondered what you can do to help others or to improve your community? Can you read and write at a high-school graduate level or higher? Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County offers people the opportunity and resources to help others gain the reading and writing skills they need to improve their lives. All it takes is the ability to read and write, successful completion of LV Wayne's Literacy Tutor Workshop, some commitment, and a couple of hours each week.

LV Wayne will be offering a workshop for new Tutors the Saturdays of March 24, March 31, and April 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Montezuma Street in Lyons.

The workshop is free, although it is strongly recommended participants purchase Literacy Volunteers of America's tutoring guide at a cost of $15 (scholarships available). LV Wayne presently has many people waiting for Tutors in both Lyons and Arcadia.

For information on becoming a certified LV Tutor, please call 946.5333.
