Auditions for Renaissance Faire

The Sterling Renaissance Festival near Lake Ontario has scheduled auditions for its interactive improvisational troupe. Needed are experienced male and female actors of various ages to portray interactive characters in a 35-acre Elizabethan village, and perform Shakespeare and Commediat Dell'Arte plays on period outdoor amphitheaters.

The contract commitment runs from June 6 to August 20. There are four weeks of intensive rehearsal/workshops in improvisation and interactive theatre by veteran Disney director Gary Izzo.

There are seven performance weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, only from 1-7 p.m. Pay range is $200-$280 per week, with housing, Workman's Comp & NYS unemployment insurance provided. Bring acting resume and 8 x 10 B&W photo. Must have strong improv skills, and a one-minute classical or contemporary comic monologue prepared. Improv callback held same evening. Dress comfortably, no heels.

Casting 20 men/18 women for regular company. Casting four men/four women for Internship Company; $50 per week stipend, housing, Workman's comp & NYS unemployment insurance provided, and college credit available. Also casting eight-member young (ages 15-18) company, March 27 only; must have theatrical experience.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 27 from 4-8 p.m. only at SUNY Oswego, in Tyler Hall, room 102 & 103. No appointment calls please. Sign-in list starts at 3:45 p.m. at auditions.
