Pysanky eggs are topic in Lyons

Annette Harris will speak on Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating at the April 4 History at Noon session at the Wayne County Historical Society Museum in Lyons.

learn more Ukrainian Easter eggs are called pysanky, a word that is defined as 'things that are written upon.' Ukrainian Easter eggs are not painted, but rather produced by a complex wax-resist dying process. Harris will share her knowledge of the highly complex and symbolic art form.

The lecture will begin at 12:10 p.m. and attendees may take a bag lunch. Beverages and dessert will be provided by the Society. As seating space is limited, pre-registration is required for this free event. For more information contact the Society at 946.4943, Tuesday-Friday, between 10 and noon and 12:30-4 p.m.
