Absentee ballots decide Newark election Although the official tally sheets have not arrived, this morning's count of absentee ballots seems to confirm Republican Peter Blandino as the next mayor of Newark. The final official count may see his win a mere 60 votes over the count for Democrat Jack Dubler. The same numbers will be the deciding factor in the race for Village Justice, where incumbent Bruce Chambers is ahead of Democrat Wendy D'Alfonso by about 50-60 ballots.
