Newark MS Walk starts at Perkins School

Newark is one of 400 communities across the country that will host the MS Walk - a fundraising event that benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

learn more The April 1 MS Walk begins at 9 a.m. (with check-in starting at 8), so don't forget to set your clocks ahead and meet at Perkins Elementary School, W. Maple Avenue. At this starting point, participants can choose to walk a three-mile or approximate 10-mile route, which winds throughout Newark and returns back to the elementary school. Participants can take a break at a rest stop, where snacks and beverages will be available to keep them energized.

The Newark site is expecting more than 250 walkers, which brings the total to more than 5500 people taking part in the MS Walk in Upstate New York to help raise $600,000 for programs and MS research.

Funds raised from the 2001 MS Walk will be used to provide programs and services to more than 4000 people with MS who live in Upstate New York as well as to support research on the cause, new treatments and a possible cure for MS.
