Veterans Stand Down in Lyons

The Wayne County Veterans Stand Down 2001 will take place Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lyons VFW Memorial Post 5092.

All veterans and their families are invited to this special occasion offering the community an opportunity to provide a welcome, thanks, and helping hand to veterans in need of information and assistance.

The event is sponsored by the Veterans Outreach Center, Inc. of Rochester, in cooperation with the Wayne County Veterans Service Agency and the various county, state, federal and non-profit community services and veterans organizations.

Help will be available with employment, health, social services, food, clothing, housing, counseling, career training and much more. There will be an opportunity to apply and enroll for U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs services (bring your discharge or separation papers if available).

Free hot breakfast and box lunch to go will be furnished to participants, in addition to child care. All vets are invited to stop by, learn and share with other veterans and community workers and volunteers. Free transportation will be provided to those in need.
