Garden Faire in Newark

St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark will be a colorful field of flowers on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as the church ushers in its Tenth Annual Garden Faire and Tearoom. The faire is an annual spring event in Newark. Expert and novice gardeners alike enjoy the festive atmosphere of St. Mark's courtyard as they shop for perennials, annuals and herbs. Several crafters will set up shop as well, selling popular items including tin garden ornaments, hand painted slate, decorated hats, and garden-themed jewelry.

The faire's signature red cedar arbor valued at over $400 will again be raffled off to to one of the luckier participants. Also to be raffled will be a garden shrub donated by Dittmar Nursery of Newark and one this year's newly introduced Faire tea-shirts.

Inside St Mark's, come and relax in the company of friends in the elegant Tearoom. For a donation of six dollars, you will enjoy fine Earl Grey tea and an exceptional selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts. Servers will pour starting at 10:30 and seating will be on a continuous basis until 1:30 p.m. Musical guest artists for the tearoom will be: Jason Cornwall, guitar; Jean Bendix, piano; and Laurie Williams, flute, accompanied by Barb Rathbun on piano.

St. Mark's pre-faire sale of geraniums is now in process. Red and pink geraniums can be ordered at $2.25 per pot until May 15 and can be picked up on May 19 at the faire. All proceeds from this year's pre-sale will be donated to the Child Survivors at the Victim Resource Center of Newark.
