School Concert in Sodus

On June 6 at 7 p.m. in the Sodus Central Field House, the Music Department will present its final concert of the school year.

You are cordially invited to sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic (arranged by Jay Althouse) with the Concert Choir. The tradition of performing The Battle started by Mrs. Alice Ingison, music teacher (1931-1970).

Annually at the June Concert, Mrs. Ingison invited her former students to find their places among the current choir members and they performed the hymn. Again this June, Miss Lisa Torres, choir director is extending the same invitation to anyone who would like to sing this traditional song.

Former music students of Mrs. Ingison and Miss Torres are encouraged to attend the rehearsal before the concert, at 6:30 in the Intermediate Gym.

Also featured in the concert will be the Symphonic Band; the Select Choir; the Girls Ensemble; and the Jazz Band.

Some of Mrs. Ingison's students became teachers:

Carol Benton Ankrom, Nancy Proseus Campbell, Marcia Dutton Cottrell, Judy Rowe Davis, Sandra Baker Hall, Sandra Hamilton, Mary Alice Hoste Henry, Ann Simmons Hooper, Kathleen Pittman Keller, Bette Mullins Kennedy, Beverly Kirkpatrick, Marcia Peters Landgren, Edwin LaRock, Sandra Cole Manktelow, Joan Tingue Miller, Thomas Miller, Hugh Miner, Richard Moore, Suzanne Miner Moore, William Palmer, Russell Raethka, Jr., Nancy Hungerford Ransley, Marian Deright Rolston, Gilbert Sergeant, Jean Richards Seymour, Joyce Miner Small, Christine Stirling, Kenneth Symonds, William Tingue, Natalie White Turner, Betsy Grosz Wahl, Eleanor Burnett Wickstrom, Gary Zeger, Mary Costello Zeger.
