Race car will sport Papa Joe's logo Veteran NASCAR modified driver Jan Leaty and the rest of the Schum-Branich Motorsports team will partner with Papa Joe's Restaurant, Sodus Point, for the Empire State Modified Championship Shootout, to be held on June 3 at Oswego Speedway. Leaty's 2000 Troyer modified will carry the Papa Joe's logo for the event, as part of the one-race sponsorship deal made with the local eatery. The Sunday afternoon race is expected to draw top modified drivers from all over the northeast, and over 70 cars are expected. According to a recent report, the race will be televised on a tape-delay basis by the Empire Sports Network. Fresh off a strong showing in the Service Electric 100 at the Nazareth (PA) Speedway (as part of the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series), the team is eager to run close to home at Oswego and to showcase their local sponsors. Papa Joe's Restaurant is locally owned and operated by Don and Jude Buchwald. In addition to Papa Joe's, the team is supported throughout the racing season by several local businesses. The local sponsor roster includes Pace Electronics and Heluva Good Food Products, both of Sodus; Parts Plus/Mr. Auto, of Ontario, Gary Johnston RV Center, Palmyra, Wayne Regional Orthopaedics, of Williamson, with product support from Michael Boone Signs and NAPA Auto Parts, also of Sodus. Rochester area sponsors include Peck Collision, Kennedy and Schum, L. L. Huff Co., Inc. (all of Spencerport), and Horning Construction Co., Inc. (Rochester), with additional product support from Troyer Engineering (Rochester) and Swain Technical Coatings (Scottsville).
