Another Newark eyesore ready to fall

101 East Avenue Pending approval of his bid by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, Newark businessman Jim Colacino plans to remove a longtime eyesore from the lower East Ave area.

101 East Ave. has long been a trouble spot, visited numerous times by the law and enforcement and code enforcement. Back taxes finally made the property available for bid, and Colacino was at courthouse in Lyons, coming up with the high bid of $4500. As soon as he obtains title to the property, demolition will begin.

Colacino and his father Dick, owner of Newark Electric Corp. on Harrison Street, are planning to build a storage facility on the lot to house equipment for their business. The Colacinos vow that this area will never again become an eyesore.
