Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

Every week I brace myself for horrible, frigid weather and so far we've been lucky. (Doesn't winter last a lot longer then summer?)

Tomorrow is the Annual Health Fair at Myers Hospital. Be there between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Tomorrow is also the day for the Chicken Barbecue at the Williamson Fire Hall. They'll be serving (take-outs only) from 2 to 5 p.m. Get your ticket from any Williamson Fireman or at the Fire Hall tonight between 6 and 9 p.m.

There's a Roast Beef Dinner at the Sodus Center Fire Hall tomorrow night starting at 5. The dinner is a benefit for the NYC Firefighters' Relief Fund.

The Williamson Rotary Club will hold its traditional Election Day Breakfast at the American Legion on Tuesday, from 6 to 10 a.m. Plenty of pancakes, eggs, sausage.... and Williamson Bicentennial Calendars will be available for $10.

Election Night Supper can be had at several places. There's a Chicken BBQ at Sodus United Third Methodist Church from 4:30 to 6, and a Roast Pork Dinner with all the trimmings at the Pultneyville United Methodist from 5 p.m. Check the Events page for all the listings.

The Pultneyville Historical Society will hold its Harvest Supper Wednesday (Nov. 7) at 6:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church.

Wednesday is also the day the Williamson Senior Citizens will meet at the Legion Hall at noon. They'll be having their Annual Auction. Bring a dish to pass, table service, drink and a wrapped gift to be auctioned.

turkey Next Friday is the Turkey Party at the Sodus Point Fire Dept. The fun starts at 7 p.m. There'll be turkeys, hams, and free refreshments.

In Sodus School news: Tuesday, November 6 will be the first of the field trips to Plainville Turkey Farm. Tuesday it will be the classes of Hendricks and Lawrence. Wednesday, Bastian and Fredericksen and Thursday, November 8, Tuma and Lattucca. (Seems like yesterday I tagged along with my daughter's class.)

The Sodus Library has more new books - a couple of fun titles: Amanda Pig and Her Best Friend Lollipop by Jean Van Leeuwen and Captain and Matey Set Sail by Daniel Laurence.

The Kraft Shack will be making a Primitive Angel on Wednesday, November 7. This beautiful Angel is painted in country colors, holds a star and has old fashioned nails for her hair. $24 includes all. Please be sure to register in advance for the class.

Heluva Good Dill Dip is back just in time for the fall season and the Holidays. It's also great for a snack, when you have parties and, of course, football season is here. Dill dip is great with rye bread, pretzels and veggies. (We really like it with broken pieces of pumpernickel bread.) Heluva Good has a new dip out - Garlic Parmesan.

Mary Rought is enjoying some vacation time. (Ralph, I thought you said it was warm in Florida.)

Remember if you have any events, field trips or fun things you like to see added to the column please send them along to me at

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great week, no matter what the weather.
