Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

We've been so lucky to have so many nice days - especially in November. (I hope it lasts a bit longer so I can hang the Christmas lights out on the bushes, otherwise I'll be fighting with frozen fingers.)

And, speaking of cold weather, the Sodus Rotary Club is collecting sweaters through November 15. Clean out your sweater drawers and drop your donation at the Sodus Municipal Building or Lessord's.

The Williamson Rotary Club is busy selling Bicentennial calendars. The historical 2002 calendars would be a great gift for someone who has moved away. You can get one at many local businesses.

The Sodus Point Fire Dept. is having its Turkey Party tonight at 7 p.m. And tomorrow is the Wallington Fire Department's Chicken and Biscuit Dinner from 5-7:30 p.m.

Monday, November 12, there's a Turkey Party at Fairville Fire Hall, 7 p.m.

The Kraft Shack will be having another great craft class on Monday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Gingerbread Couple is about 30 inches tall and a hold a heart together for you to write a special message on. The pair has little Gingerbread babies in their hands. $50 includes all and please remember to register in advance

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join the group. Entertainment will be provided by Marlyce Knapp with a sing-a-long. Canned goods, paper products, etc. will be collected for the community pantry at Sodus Point. Everyone is asked to bring their items to the meeting. A slate of officers will be presented for the coming year.

Don't forget to see the play the Sodus High School Drama Club is putting on, The Nit Wits, on Nov. 16 and 17 at 7:30. Go early for the Rotary Spaghetti Dinner from 5 to 7 in the new high school cafeteria. They'll also have tours of the renovated school.

The Sodus Library has more new book titles for beginning readers: The Bookstore Burglar by Barbara Maitland and Agapanthus Hum and Major Bark by Joy Cowley.

We got a special, unexpected call from Susan Hooper, who now lives in Florida with her family, it wasn't too long ago they lived in Sodus and were involved in Scouting - both boys and girls. It was really nice hearing from her. It's always nice to keep in touch.

And you can keep in touch with me, letting me know all your news, by writing to me at

Have a great week.
