Marion Library news
Actually, in spite of knowing that soon we will be shoveling snow and scraping our windshields, I have thoroughly enjoyed September and October, and the coming of winter means another festive holiday season, including 'Christmas in Marion.' In anticipation of moving into our new library (front pictured above; back pictured below) and having a wonderful new Christmas tree in the lobby of that building, we discarded all our tired old ornaments last year. We are asking that in celebration of our move to the new building, people bring us new ornaments this year. We have had two lovely new trees donated to the library, so we need lots and lots of ornaments. You can drop them off anytime during the month of November at the library's present location. While you are thinking of our Christmas tree, don't forget the Angel Tree, which will once again be sponsored by the Library and the Marion Retired Teachers Association. The tree will be in the present library on November 19. If you know of names that should be on the tree, contact the library or Ann Owens at the Elementary School. Everyone is working busily to have the library ready for a December 1 move. The lovely chandelier is hung in the entrance. Gary Lau and Nelson Krocke are busy at work on the trim work, and tile is being laid. The library will close Friday, November 30, with plans to reopen Saturday, December 8. We plan to have our new Marion Public Library tote bags ready for sale, as well as lots of grand opening surprises. Moving plans are being formulated and those people who have offered to help will be contacted.
