We've had another really nice week - a chance to plant those mums and maybe put up the Christmas lights up without the gloves. Sodus Primary News: The First Grade went on a field trip to the IMAX Theater on Tuesday. (If you know what movie they saw, let me know... was it The Nutcracker? Speaking of movies, how many of you are going to see the premier of the Harry Potter movie today? I finally gave in and bought the kids the bertie botts - the Harry Potter flavored jelly beans. They are expensive, so it took a while for me to buy them. What a jelly bean experience! When they say they taste like popcorn they really do. Strawberry jam and, even the pepper... taste just like the real thing. (As far as the nasty-tasting ones, no one has dared to try those yet.) A neat Christmas idea if your kids are into Harry Potter. I received an e-mail from Kathryn Howard: 'I'm a former Williamsonian (moved in 1978; my dad was Dr. George Howard, a General Practitioner who died in 1966 and is still remembered by a lot of his old patients...) Help me get the word out to Wayne County about a letter-writing campaign I'm involved in. It's called Notes to New York and Washington and we're asking people of all ages (from 2-92!) to write notes/draw pictures/send e-mails to people like themselves in NYC and Washington. We're trying to reach folks who weren't directly involved in the attacks, but who are suffering, nonetheless. We have 3rd graders writing to 3rd graders, gardeners to gardeners, moms to moms, firefighters to firefighters and so on. Anyone can do this! The people who have received letters have been absolutely overwhelmed they are so grateful that people around the world have not forgotten them. So far, we gotten over 12,000 letters and we're hoping to get over 100,000 by next September (we're writing until then, to encompass the anniversary of the attacks). Folks can send letters to: Notes to New York and Washington, PO Box 23343, Rochester, NY 14692, or email: notes2nydc@aol.com. They can also check out the website at: www.notes2nydc.com or call 716.234.9414 for more information. Please help us remember those people in NY and Washington who need to hear from us so desperately.'
