Happenings The Class of 2000 organized a tree planting ceremony in honor of Randy Miller, a 2000 Marion graduate who died in May. In July, friends and family members of Randy attended the ceremony to dedicate the trees. Amy Bantle, co-president of the Class of 2000, spoke briefly. Two flowering plum trees, donated by George and Linda Stevenson of Walker's Nursery, were planted on both sides of the signboard in the front of the high school. A plaque will be placed next to the trees designating the dedication. December 1 is the Holiday Open House at Marion Museum, 10 until 2. December 8 is Christmas in Marion. Congratulations! to Michelle Bump, of Palmyra, who won the door prize at the Leaning Barn open house. The Food Drive begins - canned food will be used for Marion Community Food Boxes. Drive ends December 14. 'During colonial times, apples were called winter bananas or melt-in-the-mouth.' November 23, 1922: The Wayne Food Products Company has shipped 15,000 barrels of cider this season. They still have a large supply left. 'No matter how old a mother is, she watches her middle-aged children for signs of improvement.' (No! They didn't dredge the ditch on Union Street.) Did you know that when a student attends events like school dances and chicken barbecues, it is because many teachers, staff and community members have donated their time. They do not receive a penny for their time, but they do deserve our thanks. If you see these people, show them your appreciation: Justin Pomietlarz, Kim LaCelle, Donna Newby, Denise Paley, Kathy Wegman, Nick Prezioso, Lisa Krause, James Santilli, Sarah Snyder, Warren Bushart, Carol Fanelli, Robin Lewis, Kathy Baker, Sandy Moran, Ricky Hargarther, Nate Boerman, Ricky Gardner. The band members will be taking orders for oranges and grapefruit through November 26. Tentative delivery date is set for December 18.
