Happenings Mary McGahen is recovering from her surgery. Joe Bushart is recovering from a recent fall. Don Leno is now home following a hospital stay. Kate Buyck has returned to her home at Sunset Drive. Congratulations to Jack and Bunny Sewert on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary on November 20. Linda Schutt was responsible for the decorating of the Communion Table at the United Church over the Thanksgiving holiday. I hear that our Ginger Roma is going to be working at the new, revised 'Red Rooster' in Fairville and that they will (might?) be opening this weekend. Stuart and Joan Bornstein and family of Tappan, NY, spent Thanksgiving and the long weekend with their mother and grandmother, Mil Leenhouts of Union Street. Winner of the door prize at Michelle Palmer's open house was Nancy Coberle - the painting is called 'United.' It shows two snowmen with an American flag. 'A good time is coming. I wish it were here! The very best, in the whole of the year. I'm counting the days on my fingers and thumbs. It won't be long 'til Santa Claus comes.' It's that time of the year - snowflakes in the air, Christmas carols being hummed - time to plan getting together for a visit at the Marion Museum on Saturday, December 1, from 10 to 2. Featured this year is an evergreen tree decorated with glass reproductions of 100-year-old Christmas balls. Refreshments, of course. December 3 - Penny Food Fund begins through Dec. 21. Proceeds go to the Marion Food Pantry. December 5 - 4th Grade Band Concert at 7 p.m. in the Elementary School auditorium. December 6 - Junior High Winter Concert - 7:30 p.m. 'Happy Birthday Wishes' to Virginia VanderBrook on December 6. Remember 'Christmas In Marion' on Saturday, December 8. Be sure to volunteer and join in the festivities. Hope you and your family and friends spent a joyful time together on Thanksgiving, eating turkey and all the trimmings, and having a good time conversing and spending time together. Clark and Helen Dingman spent Thanksgiving in Austin, Texas with their daughter, Patricia and Randy Ellis and daughters, Tarra, McKenzie, and Devon. Stephen Dingman from San Antonio, Texas joined them. They all attended and enjoyed the Harry Potter movie. They report that their flights were uneventful. The Ministry of Music at the Second Reformed Church on November 25 was provided by Bonnie White. December 4, 1947: Army and Navy recruiting officers will attend the meeting of the American Legion Post tonight at 8 o'clock. The officers will present Victory Medals and American Defense Medals to those with the proper credentials. Keri and Peter DeNagel of Pultneyville announce the birth of their daughter, Kayley Rae, born September 22 at Highland Hospital. Kayley weighed 8 pounds, 10 oz. and was 21 inches long. Grandparents are Craig and Susan DeNagel of Pultneyville, Gary and Karen Smith of Marion. Thank you to the Boy Scouts for collecting 200 boxes of food for Marion Pantry. And to the generous citizens. Thanks to the Marion 4H group for boxing and storing the donations. The Marion Community Group has donated $434 to the Marion 'Dollars for Scholars' program. These monies were realized from the Sauerkraut and Wiener Supper held at the Elementary School on Election night.
