scarecrow At Lyons Farm Market

The Lyons Farmers Market will host a scarecrow contest this Saturday and a Halloween costume contest on October 27. Start planning now for a creative entry in each.

Kids and adults are invited to bring a hand-made scarecrow to the Lyons Village Park at 9 a.m. to register. The public will cast their ballots between 9:30 and 10 a.m. First-place prizes of $25, second-place of $15, and third-place of $10 will be awarded in kids' and adults' categories.

The public will again pick the winners for the costume contest on October 27. Participants should arrive at the park in an original, handmade outfit (no commercial costumes) at 9 a.m. to register. Judging will occur between 9:30 and 10. The same cash prizes will be awarded in both the kids' and adult categories.

The contests are sponsored by the Lyons National Bank and the Lyons Chamber of Commerce.

The market, opens each Saturday morning from 7:30 to 11, closes for the season on October 27.
