Youtheatre auditions in Pultneyville

The Youtheatre of Pultneyville, will be holding auditions for the fall musical, Once On This Island, at Gates Hall in Pultneyville on Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m.

Once On This Island is based on Rosa Guy's My Love, My Love. It is a colorful musical, full of complex characters and Caribbean beats. It is a tale of love, loss and redemption, performed by a group Caribbean peasants as they wait out a violent storm.

The story they tell is of a young peasant girl, Ti Moune, who leaves her village in search of her love, sent on a journey by the gods of her island to test the ultimate strength of her love. It is the peasants' version of what became of her, filtered through their faith and their imaginations.

Book and lyrics are by Lynn Ahrens, with music by Stephen Flaherty. The performance dates for the show are November 23, 24, 25, and 30 , and December 1.

Director Sara Eden invites singers, dancers, actors, and percussionists ages 12 and up to come to the audition. It is suggested that you come a few minutes before 2 p.m. and bring a pen or pencil.
