Lyons event postponed in honor of victims

Due to the fact that President Bush has declared today a day of 'prayer and remembrance' to honor the victims of this week's terror attacks, the Wayne County Historical Society Cemetery Walk at the Lyons Rural Cemetery has been postponed to September 21.

Guided tours will start every 15 minutes, with the last performance beginning at 7:45. A special performance will also be held at 6 p.m. at the Museum on 21 Butternut Street for those who do not want to go into the cemetery.

Refunds will be made to anyone who has already purchased tickets and cannot attend on the performance on the 21st.

Tickets for most performances are still available and should be purchased at the Museum prior to the night of the performance. The size of the groups will be limited and tickets are being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cemetery tours will begin promptly at 7, 7:15, 7:30 and 7:45.

Valet parking will be available so participants should not arrive at the cemetery more than ten minutes prior to the start of their tour. It would also help if tour-goers carpooled and brought flashlights. The Society office is open Tuesday-Friday, 10-4.
