Happenings Your Museum will be open at 9 a.m. on the day of the Marion Heritage Festival, Saturday, Sept. 22. This might be a good time to plan to drop by for a visit and a tour around the four display rooms. I could still use some volunteers to host at one-hour intervals, so I can roam around and take a few pictures for our files, and to be able to partake of the Chicken BBQ which is sponsored by the Marion Legion Baseball team. I will have on display some views of Marion in earlier years. Try to name the places that are pictured. The Finger Lakes Council is holding School Night for Scouting on Thursday, September 20. Boys in grades 1-5 can join Cub Scouts on this evening at the Marion Elementary School. The program is at 7 p.m. Call the Finger Lakes Council at 789.1166. How can they call soccer a team sport if the entire team doesn't get to play? The Church School at the United Church will have their usual SWEETS AND TREATS BOOTH, and their Missions Committee will sponsor its annual PIG ROAST in the evening. The United Church of Marion Church School Program will celebrate Rally Day with a family potluck picnic on Sunday, September 16, following worship service, at the Town Park. The Women's Guild of the United Church will have a potluck dinner on September 18 at 6:15 in the Margaret Curtis Fellowship Hall. All women of the church are invited to attend. YOUTH NIGHT will be September 14, after the Marion home soccer game, in the gym at the Second Reformed Church Educational Building. Time is about 9-11:30 p.m. THANKS! to George Shoales who has written and printed a notebook titled, Olden Times About Marion, N.Y. 1800 to 2001 and counting. It contains pictures and remembrances of our town of Marion and its people. A wonderful addition to our archives ! 'Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.' Roast Beef Dinner at the Legion Home is this evening, Sept. 14. Served home style. Richards Chapter OES will resume meetings beginning Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. Preceding the meeting, there will be a potluck supper in the dining room at 6:30. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service. On Heritage Day, September 22 members of Richards Chapter will be serving up reuzelbollen and beverages in the dining room at the Masonic Temple and they will also have a 'garage sale' in the dining room. The hours will be 9 until 3. Sports briefs: Varsity tennis team lost 3-2 at Clyde-Savannah on Sept. 5. Winner for Marion in straight sets were first singles player Stephany Clark, and the doubles team of Danielle Klaver and Amy Lau. The JV soccer boys won 4-1 against Red Creek. NRW won 3-2 in volleyball, but Marion got six aces from Katie Wilder; and Becky Plyter had three kills. JV volleyball team defeated NRW 30-24, 11-30, 16-14. SEPTEMBER 25, 1947: Frank K. Mosher, Marion Central School principal has been re-elected president of the Wayne County High School Athletic Association at a recent meeting. Student Association winners at Marion Central were: President Earl DeWispelaere, vice president Richard Derr, Secretary Lorraine DeWispelaere and treasurer Robert Sheahen.
