Volunteers needed to build Newark playground

Parents of Lincoln School children and other community volunteers are needed to help assemble a new playground October 13. The playgroup, designed by Parkitects in Medina, will be similar to the one that was assembled last fall at Perkins School. It will be situated on the west side of the new building addition.

Members of the planning team who met this Tuesday were Dawn Strait, Mary Wage, Dawn Schwind, Anne Rogers, Anna Moens, Katy Beck and Ganell Brann.

The new playground equipment will augment what is already there. Especially needed are folks who have various types of tools and can use them - carpenter levels; electric drills, ratchet sets, wrench sets, tape measures; hammers; rubber mallets, drill bits (heavy duty for drilling through metal); utility knives, steel digging bars, round-nosed shovels, metal garden rakes, post hole diggers, wheelbarrows, hand tamps and tin snips.

Playground assembly time will be from 8 a.m. (sign-in) until 5 p.m., the estimated completion time.

Donated refreshments, childcare for younger, school age children, and lunch will be provided.

Anyone who can lend a helping hand should contact Patty Weaver, school custodian, at 332.3342, ext. 6113.
