Senior volunteers needed

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Wayne, Ontario and Seneca Counties is looking for volunteers 55 years of age and older to volunteer at sites throughout the three counties.

Wayne County Council for the Arts (in Lyons) needs one to three volunteers on Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday from noon-5. Duties would include, answering phones and handling mail and being a gallery greeter.

Home Meal Service, Inc. of Wayne County volunteers are needed to deliver meals to homebound individuals in Sodus, Williamson, Savannah, Clyde, N. Rose and Newark. Routes take about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of meals to be delivered. New volunteers will be assigned to an experienced person to learn the route. Wayne County maps are provided. Volunteers must be able to drive and have good mobility. Volunteers can do the route alone or with a helper. Mileage can be reimbursed. Delivery can be one day per week or two days per month. Scheduling is at the convenience of the volunteer.

Wayne Rural Ministry/Come-Unity Center of Williamson-need volunteers in Common Cents Thrift Shop hanging up clothes and assisting at register.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program offers benefits such as partial mileage reimbursement to and from your assignment, supplemental, liability and accident insurance to, from and during your assignment, a quarterly newsletter, quarterly in-service luncheons, an annual recognition event and the feeling of self-worth that comes with volunteering.

RSVP has over 80 sites to choose from in our three-county area ranging from nursing homes, museums, school, hospitals and others.
