Railroad excursions from Sodus to Newark The Rochester Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) is planning Fall Foliage Railroad Excursions from Sodus to Newark. This diesel-powered, 34-mile, two and one-half-hour trip uses former New York Central Stainless Steel Rail Passenger Cars. Train leaves from the Ontario Midland Railroad's Sodus loading area located on Rotterdam Rd. (1/2 mile south of Rt. 104) and travels to Newark through scenic former New York Central and Pennsylvania RR trackage. Trips are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., and 2:15 p.m. on Saturdays: October 6 and 13, and Sundays: Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7 14, 21 and 28. Ticket prices are Adults $10 and children ages 3-15 $6; (children under 3 ride free if seated on adult's lap). Sept. 16 offers half price to grandparents ($5 instead of regular $10) who are traveling with grandchildren. Family fare day is Sunday, Sept. 23 - for one day only, all children's tickets will be $3, (that represents a 50% saving off our regular child fare). September 30, the trips will visit the 1940's with music, events, and memories from that time period in rail cars built in 1941. Enjoy a trip back in time! New this year ....
