Ducks Unlimited dinner in Newark The Newark Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its 20th dinner/auction on May 1 at the Quality Inn, North Main St., Newark. Ducks Unlimited is dedicated to the preservation of waterfowl habitat all across North America.
Last year the Newark Chapter generated over $14,000 for local and National wetland preservation. The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge is one of many local projects benefiting from funds raised by the Newark Dinner/Auction. Each year, the United States loses 100,000 acres of wetland habitat. Since its inception, Ducks Unlimited has raised over $1.5 billion to enhanced and restore over 10 million habitat acres, encompassing over 18,600 wetland projects in the U.S., in an effort to reverse this destructive trend. DUs projects provide habitat for over 900 wildlife species, including ducks, geese and endangered species like the whooping crane and bald eagle. In addition to sponsorships, with special Sponsor Only prizes and drawings, contributors can donate a prize for the auction and/or raffle, or underwrite the cost of special DU auction items. All donors are given recognition for their generosity in a printed program given to all attendees. Tickets purchased prior to April 15 are automatically entered in an Early Bird drawing. For more information on becoming a sponsor and/or contributing to this event please contact Bob McFadden at 331.0296 or Al Walker at 331.9537.
