Happenings The Marion Girl Scouts and Community Volunteers delivered 104 Easter plants (hyacinths) to senior citizens, shut-ins, hospitals and nursing homes. The plants are purchased from the generous donations of Marion businesses, individual contributions and the Community Christmas program. April 9, 1915: There is prospect that the old district schools must give way to the new fangled township plan. This is another move to increase the burden of taxpayers. Green Tea Time: Fragrant and complete in flavor, green tea has been popular in Asia for more than 3000 years. You've probably heard that its good for you. Studies suggest that its antioxidant properties might help prevent disease and ward off cancer, among other benefits. But you might not be aware that green and black teas come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis. The difference is simply the preparation of the leaves. To make green tea, the leaves are steamed and dried. For black tea, the leaves are withered, rolled, fermented and dried. Happy 65th Wedding Anniversary to Ernest and Lena Boss on April 10. Marion Community Carnival is Saturday, April 27 from 11 to 2. Marion Elementary School is the recipient of the 2002 Pathfinder award. The business council of New York's prestigious award honors schools for educational improvement. Thanks to all who purchased the sunny daffodils with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Thanks to the Eleanor Schoonerman who again assisted with Marion's participation. All are welcome to come to the Women's Guild Spring Pot Luck Dinner at the United Church on April 16 at 6:15. The dinner will be held in Margaret Curtis Fellowship Hall. Bring your place setting and a dish to pass. There will be an opportunity to introduce one or more books that they have read which may be of help or inspiration to others. The Youth Department at the Second Reformed Church will hold a Can and Bottle Drive on April 13 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the educational building. All monies received will go into the youth department's transportation fund for trips. Welcome Home! Phyllis Adriaansen who has now returned from sunny Florida. 'New Beginnings.
