Annual auction at St. Michael School

St. Michael School in Newark will hold its Benefit Auction at 320 S. Main St., Newark (Route 88 South) on Saturday, April 27. Over 400 items will be auctioned in the Silent and Live Auction.

McDonnell Hall (school gymnasium) is the location. A Premier Party (reservations only) will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Premier Party guests will be able to have hot hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary drink plus a chance to preview all of the items. To reserve a seat at a table for the Premier Party, call Karen Staples at 331.5657.

At 6:30, the doors will open to the public. For a $5 donation, all are welcome to attend this year's auction. All food and coffee are available to all guests at no cost for the remainder of the evening. Local businesses donate the food and drinks.

This year's auctioneers will be Charlotte Pitrella and Jack Dubler. Pitrella worked at St. Michael School for 31 years as a teacher and then as administrator for her last 13 years. Dubler, a former Rochester police officer, has two children who graduated from St. Michael School and was the first president of the School Advisory Committee.

There will be an original quilt handmade by Mary Colasurdo, a 'B.C.' cartoon autographed by Johnnie Hart, a basketball signed by the entire 2001-2002 SU team and Coach Jim Boeheim, a football signed by Tommy Coughlin - head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, a Florida condo get-away, an overnight and dinner at Geneva-on-the-Lake, many golf outings, pizza certificates, vacations, dinner certificates, plus 400 more items.

There will be baskets which range from gardening themes to Yankee Candles. 'There is something for everyone,' says Karen Staples, auction chair.

The Silent Auction begins at 6:30, while the Live Auction begins at 8:30. The Auction is an adult-only event, as beer and wine are available. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted.
