Remembrance Week planned by Museum

Wayne County Historical Society and Old Jail Museum is joining with other museums in America in remaining open for extended hours (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) on September 11, 2002 in an effort to unite with their communities in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001.

People are also being encouraged to come to the Museum during Remembrance Week, September 9-14, to relate their memories and experiences of September 11, 2001 so this information can be recorded in the Museum archives.

Other activities that have been planned for that week are: An Historic Cemetery Walk will be held at the Lyons Rural Cemetery in Lyons (September 13); a free craft class in which children will make a patriotic collage that represents the freedoms that United States citizens cherish (September 14); and the opening of the exhibit, 'Wayne County's Attic,' that will have a patriotic focal point (September 14).
