County Fair pie winners

Brenda Jackson of Palmyra, and her apple pie, won the Wayne County Fair Pie Contest this week. She competed with 31 contestants for the title of Wayne County's Best Pie Baker and the $50 first prize. This was Jackson's first time entering the contest. She entered the competition at the urging of her family who claims she makes the best pies.

Second place went to Jennifer Drury of Palmyra, who produced a berry cherry combo pie.

Third place went to six-year-old Eliza Mead of Palmyra, for her chocolate pecan pie.

Competing against her husband and mother, Teresa Vascukynas of Ontario received fourth-place honors with her garden berry pie.

Fifth place went to Phyllis Bliek of Marion with a butterscotch apple crumb pie.

Judy Carney of Walworth took sixth place with her cheddar-top apple pie.

Motts North America of Williamson sponsored the Fair Pie Contest. Mott's gave all the contestants a Mott's bun warmer and the audience Mott's juice and applesauce.

All the pies were auctioned by Van's Auction Service of Marion. The auction raised over $350. All proceeds go towards Fair renovations.
