Veterans Stand Down in Sodus Veterans and their families in need of information and assistance are invited to attend the Wayne County Veterans Stand Down 2002, Friday, August 23, from 10 to 2, at Sodus High School, 54 Mill Street. Free transportation will be provided for those who need it. Call 946.7497 for more information. Veterans can receive assistance with employment, health, social services, food, clothing, housing, counseling, career training, etc. Veterans may also enroll for services provided by the US Department of Veterans Affairs; they are encouraged to bring discharge papers if available. A free continental breakfast and lunch will be offered, and free on-site childcare services will also be available. Veterans are encouraged to use this event as an opportunity to learn about available services and as a chance to meet and share stories with fellow veterans. The event is sponsored by the Veterans Outreach Center and the Wayne County Veterans Service Agency. Representatives from other county, state, federal and non-profit veteran and community organizations will be participating.
