Sodus Veteran's family shows gratitude
By Donna Comella

US FlagThe family of the late Hector Manuel Martinez appeared at Tuesday morning's County Supervisors meeting to pay tribute to the Veterans Service Agency.

Daughter to Hector, Nancy Martinez Lopez, spoke on behalf of the Sodus family. She described her father as being not only a US Navy veteran and former Air Force recruiter, but as having had a passion for news and current events of the world. She also said that he had been politically active, and had campaigned for several candidates. Because he also had a great appreciation for Wayne County's Veterans Service Agency, in particular the services of Danny Wilkins, his family presented a plaque and two flags to agency head Bill Eddy of Macedon.

Eddy said that he had served with Hector over 50 years ago on the USS Coral Sea, and that the agency would proudly display the gifts in the county offices.
