Happenings The Canaltown Chorale will present their program, 'A Musical Christmas Card' featuring harpist Barbara Dechario. Performances will be held Saturday, Dec. 14 at St. Mary's of the Lake, Ontario Sunday, Dec. 15 at the United Methodist Church in Palmyra. Be sure to stop by MaryEllen's and admire the lovely, decorated widows. Very festive! A collection of Santas from around the world will be displayed at the Marion Museum on Dec. 7. Refreshments will be cookies from countries corresponding to some of the country's represented. Also, games of the past and pastimes will be arranged around the stately fireplace in the newest room. Stop by between the hours of 10 and 2. Happy Holidays! CHRISTMAS IN MARION, December 7. Wonderful activities for everyone! Thanksgiving Day was a busy, happy time for all of us, I'm sure. We entertained our family for a traditional turkey dinner and leftovers and sandwiches for supper. We also add a few tasty dishes and have folks drop in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to extend the festivities. Mil Leenhouts had family visit her from near New York City for the long weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday. Daughter Joan and Stuart Bronstein and grandchildren spent time with her and even helped her decorate her new apartment for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Maude Finch had as her guest her brother, Bill Bouwens, from Orange City, Florida. He visited for two weeks and they both spent time with brother, Jake and Sue, from Palmyra. They boys had time to hunt together, one of their favorite sports. John and Jane Ballesty opened their home on Thanksgiving, to the members of their families ... Bill and Barb DeWandel and John and Eileen Ballesty and all the siblings were around the table for the Thanksgiving repast. The Evening Circle of Women's Guild at the United Church met at the home of Sue White on December 4. December 6 and 7 - Scarlet Thread Ministries will be holding a Christmas Bazaar, Bake Sale and Silent Auction. This event will be held at the Scarlet Thread Student Center at 34 Mill St., Sodus. Anyone wishing to donate hand-crafted items or baked goods should call 331.5688. December 9 - Penny Fund begins. December 10 - Fourth grade Winter Band Concert - 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. December 12 - 5th and 6th grade Winter Band Concert - 7 p.m., Elementary School auditorium. Community Christmas Committee will be collecting donations at this concert. 'Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.' (Eskimo legend) DECEMBER 8, 1917: The Red Cross Dance was quite a success as to number, but expenses were considerable and net proceeds were $10. Happy 88th Birthday Wishes to Virginia VanderBrook on December 6 from her family and friends. Old and news friends joined Harry and Jeanne Lewis on the bus trip to Rochester, to tour the wonderful Eastman House, and enjoy a lovely dinner at Crescent Beach Hotel. How beautiful are the holdiay lights in the city! Bob and Phyllis Adriaansen and family had Rog and Gen Adriaansen, and Ken and Bev Troutman, over for Thanksgiving dinner.
