On a bright sunny day, Marion merchants, businesses and organizations presented Christmas in Marion. Lots of folks saw the Museum collection of 'old toys and games' - remembering times past. A collection of blown glass, antique style, Santas from around the world were hung on a tree sprinkled with colored lights. Guests sampled the cookies, with the recipes of the countries of the elegantly dressed Santas. There was banket from the Netherlands, baklava from Greece, Mexican wedding cakes, fruit cake bars from England, and pfeffernusse from Germany. The tiny felt angels from Monica Churchill of Walworth were hung on the mantle of the fireplace in the Heritage Room. Remember when we made snowflakes and colored chains in the country school? Well, all was repeated in the country schoolroom at Marion Museum. 'Merry Christmas!' Missionary Brian Renes preached the sermon at the worship service at the Second Reformed Church on December 8. December 4, 1915: The Bashford Vinegar Works which has done a large business the past season, has now finished taking in apples and grinding and will now barrel the vinegar. Thanks to Linda Roeland and Barb DeWandel who scoured their closets for 'toys of yesteryear' which helped to make the display at the Marion Museum so complete for our holiday open house. December 19 - Marion 5th and 6th Grade Chorus Concert at 7 p.m. Elementary Auditorium. December 20, Penny Fund Assembly. 'Seconds count, especially when dieting.' A heartfelt thank you to the Marion Ambulance and firemen, our neighbors and friends. Everyone was so kind and helpful when Doug and Allen were injured in the accident.
