Although most of the children were able to sit comfortably on Santa's knee, there were a few who were a little leery of the jolly fellow. There were the usual toys and gifts that were requested of Santa and one girl made a special request of Santa. She wanted a baby brother. After Santa finished choking on his laughter, he was heard to mention, 'I don't think that's my department, sweetheart.' The Post sponsored a Blood Drive on December 16. There were 25 successful donations. The Blood Drive Technicians were assisted by Marion Volunteers Carrie White, Vivian Voorhees, Emily Wemesfelder and Carolyn Adriaansen. Thank you, everyone, for a successful blood drive. American Legion & Auxiliary members sent Christmas cards to several veterans scattered throughout the country. Also, cards and fruit baskets were distributed to 17 local senior veterans. And cards and gifts were sent to Marion veterans who are serving away from home.
