Scouts hold banquet in Rose Webelo Scouts completed their Arrow of Light and crossed the bridge into Boy Scouts at Cub Scout Pack 109's Blue and Gold banquet held February 3 at the Rose Grange. Scouts from the den, led by Regina and Mike Jones, are: Axel DeAngelis, Geoffrey Hall, Jordan Jones, Cody Lockley, Johnathan Skinner, and Jonathan Topping. Scouts from the den led by Alex Wells and Jim Wilke are Nathan Cook, Evan Lapp, Ethan Ufholz, William Wells, and Henry Wilck. Alex Wells told the story of the Arrow of Light and shot a symbolic arrow for each Arrow of Light Scout. Alex wore a full-length Cherokee headdress, a buckskin shirt and buckskin mukluks. To recognize the time and effort parents spend with their Scouts, the Arrow of Light was presented to the parents who presented it to their Scouts. After crossing the bridge into Boy Scouts the new Scouts were greeted by the Scoutmasters: Mike Miner from Wolcott Boy Scout Troop 115; North Rose Boy Scout Troop 109 - Chuck King; and Al Walker, Rose Boy Scout Troop 108. This banquet and ceremony were the last official act of Cubmaster John Canne who introduced new Cubmaster Bill Young. John has been active with Cub Scout Pack 109 over 11 years as Webelos leader, Tiger Cub Coach, Assistant Cubmaster, and Cubmaster. He will now continue as Institutional Representative of Rose Grange for the Pack. Cub Scout Pack 109 Committee Chair Patty Chapin presented Regina and Mike Jones, Alex Wells, Jim Wilke, and John Canne with certificates of appreciation for their service to Cub Scout Pack 109. The Native American theme for the Blue and Gold Banquet included sugar ice cream cone teepees and animal table decorations. Cub Scouts and their families enjoyed ham dinner. There are over 50 Scouts registered with Cub Scout Pack 109. Their sponsoring organization is Rose Grange 1051, located on Route 414. On February 17 the Cub Scouts will again get together for their annual Bowl-A-Thon. This event raises money for the Boy Scout Council and for the individual Scouts to go to summer camp.
