Special program at Williamson library The Friends of the Williamson Public Library will present a special Sandwiched-in on Wednesday, February 20. Gerald Skerrett will help his audience 'see' what has been referred to as an invisible segment of our community. The deacon at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Ontario, Skerrett has been involved in outreach to migrant farm workers in Wayne County for the last decade. As a part of an active group offering services and hospitality to people who are often times ignored, he has learned that there is much more to this largely Latino population. His program will explain who the migrant farm workers are, what they contribute to our community and how a bridge can be built between the long-time residents of Wayne County and these new arrivals. Gerald Skerrett, and his wife Lee, who is a pastoral assistant at St. Mary's, live in Williamson, have four children and thirteen grandchildren. Skerrett's role as a deacon comes as a second career, after retirement from Kodak. He, with Lee as his partner, participated in the permanent diaconate formation program, a commitment spanning several years. The couple works with the pastor of St. Mary's, the Rev. Robert Kreckel, to provide support to the parish. When not on duty at the church, the Skerretts enjoy travel and time in the Adirondacks. The Friends program starts at noon and lunches are available by calling the library at 589-2048 by 8 p.m. on Monday, February 18. Copyright
