Newark Lady Reds Hoops

Honored on Senior Night were Melissa Colon, Danielle Garcia and Angie Perillo.

The Lady Reds picked up a 48-36 win over the Blue Devils on February 1 at Victor. Newark held a 20-8 first-quarter edge and was never challenged the rest of the night. Angie Perillo scored 18 points and Amanda Baker scored 12 points for Newark, 13-4 overall and 9-2 league.

On Jan. 30 at home, the Newark varsity girls team picked up a huge win, 47-43 over Canandaigua in overtime. The win moved the Reds into a first-place tie with the Braves for the league lead. The Newark girls team has never won a league title.

With a huge crowd on hand, the Lady Reds played exceptionally well early in the game but trailed after one quarter of play. In the second period the Reds outscored Canandaigua 12-2. Newark held a 20-12 lead at halftime.
