Lenten Soup and Sharing in Lyons

The Inter-Church Council of Lyons will sponsor an ecumenical Lenten program on the Tuesdays of Lent. Each Tuesday, folks are invited to travel from church to church for soup and sharing. The hosting church will provide a simple meal of soup and bread.

The meal is free, but each person is asked to bring a can of soup as his or her offering. The soup will be given to the Lyons Food Pantry and the Lyons Lunch Program.

The Soup and Sharing program will focus on favorite Bible Stories and how they've shaped our lives and our faith. There will be a short evening worship, led by the hosting pastor. Everyone is invited to attend these weekly ecumenical gatherings.

The meal will begin at 6 p.m. and the program will conclude no later than 8.

First date is Tuesday, February 19 at The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons, located at 11 Queen Street, (946.4723). Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will be the hosting pastor.

February 26, Rev. William Barrett of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church will host the Soup and Sharing, Phelps St., Lyons (946.4182).

On March 5, the Soup and Sharing will be at Grace Episcopal, 7 Phelps St., with host Rev. Gary Sawtelle (946.9687).

On March 12, St. John's Lutheran will host the meal. St. John's is located at 50 Spencer Street and the Rev. Jack Bailey will host (946.6748).

The final Soup and Sharing will be on March 19 at The United Methodist Church located at 93 William Street the hosting pastor is Rev. Jim Carroll (946.6035).
