Wanted: your old photos

old photos

Old pictures are needed at the Wayne County Historical Society Museum to be used in connection with Scout, traditional school, and homeschool programs.

The Museum on 21 Butternut Street offers programs that focus on period portraiture and photography, clothing, fabrics, hairstyles, accessories and ornamentation typical of the fashions from the Civil War era to the 1950's.

'Children love to study old hairstyles, fashions and accessories and, when doing so, they develop an understanding of period fashion within the context of the cultural attitudes of the period,' Andrea Evangelist, Executive Director explains.

Evangelist continues, 'Sometimes people have a collection of old unidentified photos that they don't want to keep but they don't know what to do with them. They don't really want to throw them out but they have no real use for the pictures. We would love to have those pictures for our programs.'

If anyone has pictures they could donate, please contact the Society Office at 946.4943.
